Had a great summer, the sun shone and we were kept very busy. Brighton Pride happened in early August. This year we had crew helping a client with video screens in Preston Park and worked with Pride directly in helping with a new event for this year, the Pride Pleasure Gardens in Victoria Gardens. We also had a team working on the Pride Village Party in St James’s Street. Workwise, it all went really well, usual last minute panic calls to accommodate inevitable changes and additional crew needed but all got done and clients happy. Pride seems to get better every year with the city really getting behind the event. The thousands of people that came into Brighton (and of course the locals) seemed to enjoy the event and clearly had a great time!
We worked on a variety of events including the opening ceremony of the Brighton i360. At Goodwood Revival we built stages and viewing platforms, worked on various stands and built the roller skating rink (for the second year running). Brian Wilson performed Pet Sounds at Together the People, SEC built the stage. We also had crew working at another new event, Boundary at Stanmer Park. Brighton was very busy in September, with the TUC and LibDems choosing to hold their conferences in town (SEC had teams working with the production and AV companies at both). Southampton held their annual Boat Show and we had crew there for four days. Other local events we were involved with included the Colour Run and Brighton Triathlon. We continue to work with long standing clients on corporate events all over Brighton and surrounding areas (this month Worthing, Crawley, Uckfield, Gatwick, Epsom, Hastings, Camber Sands….).
The next couple of weeks are busy with clients that I have worked with for many years. Apart from using us locally they are taking SEC to Oxford and Somerset for their events (it’s really gratifying that they appreciate what the crew bring to their jobs). With half term coming up towards the end of the month, I am taking a short break from the office and hoping to recharge my batteries (it’s been such a busy year!). Clients know that I am always contactable but are getting those bookings in with lots of notice for me now! Looking forward to the rest of the year….
